gonzalez defino is a full-service edit/design firm, providing complete book development from concept generation to final disk or film. We specialize in highly illustrated adult general-reference books with a focus on food, wine, health, antiques and collectibles, home, and DIY. Joseph Gonzalez has more than twenty-five years’ experience in illustrated general-reference book publishing—including eight years at Doubleday and nearly seventeen years at Reader’s Digest Books. He has written, edited, managed, and packaged projects for a wide variety of publishing and institutional clients—among them Hearst, Dorling Kindersley, Grolier, Marshall Editions, Mitchell Beazley, Microsoft Press, and NYU. Perri DeFino is a New York City-based creative professional with over twenty years’ experience in producing high- quality general-reference books. She was design director for the Reader’s Digest Home and Cooking Division and, more recently, art director at American Express Publishing, where she specialized in cooking, wine, travel, and time-management titles, including FOOD & WINE Magazine’s Best of the Best and Annual Cookbook.
